Celebrating our Year 12 Boarders in style

We have celebrated our graduating Year 12’s in style this week. All the events have gone to plan with a somewhat blustery final assembly on Old Boys Oval the only concern. The pool jump was great fun and it was good to see a few staff get wet. Our boarders looked the part on the red carpet for the formal and it was a privilege to welcome the boys and their partners as they entered the venue. They are a very capable group of young men and I wish them all the very best in their future endeavors. My gratitude goes to all of them for their leadership this year, particularly Gilbert and Rupeni who I had the pleasure to work closely with.
Last weekend we had nearly 60 boarders attend Wet n Wild for our final weekend trip of the year. It was indeed, wet, with rain falling for most of the day. However, this did not dampen their spirits, especially as the rain kept many people away and our boys almost had the run of the theme park to themselves. Our activities program concludes this weekend with some Laser Tag around the campus. Overall, we have had strong participation in our weekend activities programs across the terms. There are activities for all ages and these will continue into 2026.
In looking ahead to 2026, there is plenty to be excited about! I will share boarding dates once the calendar is finalised. I know that families like to have these dates as early as they can. The new buildings will offer much to our boarders next year. Not only during the school day, but after hours and on weekends as well. The programs that will be run will enhance the learning opportunities of our boarders. We achieved a great deal in supporting our boarders academically this year and I know that these new buildings will help us to offer even more support to our boarders. These buildings will also host programs in which our boarders can get their hands dirty, either making things, fixing things or growing things. Whilst I’m not in a position to confirm anymore than that, I know our boarders, no matter what year group they are in, will enjoy the opportunities they will have in these programs.
There will be some staffing changes in 2026. As Stephens House families are aware, Mr Kefford is taking a year of leave to recover from his surgery and spend some time with his family and friends. The head of Stephens Boarding House position has been advertised so that our Stephens Boarders have the continuity of care across the year. The other staffing change will occur in Corfe House. Mr Ciciolini is picking up the whistle once again, returning to his role as Head Coach of the 1st V and basketball program. As such, he will not have the time to fulfill his boarding duties aa the Assistant Head of Corfe House. This role has also been advertised and I will inform our boarding families of the successful applicants once they have been appointed.
As I finish my final article for the Boarders Telegraph of 2025, I encourage all of our parents to finalize end of term leave and include details in the notes section of the Reach leave request. Whilst this takes a little extra time, it is greatly appreciated by our Heads of House. As always, Mr Mark Oliphant must be informed of, and approve, any early departure.
Finally, I wish all our boarders and their families a joyful holiday season and a prosperous new year. I hope that the weather is kind and that our families travel safely as they journey home and embark on their well-deserved holidays.
